Yo Kai Sangokushi is a crossover that drops the Yo Kai cast into the world of Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Jibanyan, Komasan and friends appear as warlords and officers in an ancient land of rival armies, castles and shifting alliances. The result is a playful history lesson where cute spirits command troops and famous battles get a silly new coat of paint. It was developed with Koei Tecmo, the studio behind the classic strategy series that inspired the whole playful setup.

Instead of the usual battle style, fights here are tactical. You move units across grid maps, use terrain and positioning, and unleash each officer's skills at the right moment. Between battles you manage your forces, grow your territory and follow a story campaign that mixes series jokes with grand war drama. Yo Kai charm softens the strategy, making it a friendly doorway into tactical games for younger or newer players, while map veterans still get plenty of positioning puzzles to solve across the campaign.

This crossover never left Japan, so plan accordingly today. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, and new digital purchases are no longer possible. Physical Japanese cartridges show up through import sellers who deal in Level 5 titles, and the art alone makes them fun shelf pieces. Players who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their Nintendo 3DS. Some Japanese reading skill helps, though the maps teach much through play.
