The Legend of Kusakari for Nintendo 3DS

About The Legend of Kusakari for Nintendo 3DS

The Legend of Kusakari is a small and funny puzzle action game about a humble grass cutter in a fantasy village. While the hero is away fighting monsters, someone still has to keep the village paths clear, and that someone is you. Armed with shears, you dash across fields cutting every blade of grass in sight. The joke premise hides a real little challenge, since speed, planning and care all matter when the grass grows thick and the clock is ticking.

Each stage gives you a field to clear as fast and as cleanly as you can. Long grass slows you down, flowers must be spared and villagers wander the fields, so wild swinging causes trouble. Chaining cuts builds your speed and score, and the best ranks demand near perfect runs. Later stages add new hazards and tighter layouts that turn a calm chore into a frantic puzzle. It is a tiny game with a big heart, and its dry humor makes even weeding feel like a heroic deed.

Kusakari reached the west as a small digital release on the 3DS. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible today. Owners who bought it before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system as normal. New legends will need a used 3DS with the game installed, which makes this humble gem a fun thing to hunt for.

Proof that even grass cutting can feel legendary.
