The Girl and the Robot for Nintendo Wii U

About The Girl and the Robot for Nintendo Wii U

The Girl and the Robot tells a fairy tale about a young girl trapped in a distant castle by an evil queen. She frees a robot, and the two form a gentle friendship as they flee together through a world that looks like a painting. The queen sends her minions after them, but the heart of the story is trust between two very different companions. With little dialogue, the game lets its art and music carry the feeling of a classic storybook brought to life.

You switch between the two heroes to solve puzzles and survive. The girl is small and clever, able to slip through tight places and use items, while the robot is strong and brave in combat against the queens machines. Teamwork opens every door, and neither hero can finish the journey alone. The adventure is modest in length, with simple fights and thoughtful obstacles rather than harsh challenges. It is best enjoyed as a story first, a sweet and sad tale about friendship in a beautiful hand painted world.

Finding a copy today needs a little care. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical disc from a retailer or a trusted game shop. People who bought The Girl and the Robot digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their console, and a boxed copy makes a fine keepsake for any Wii U shelf.

It remains a game well worth your time today.
