Shifting World tells the story of a prince who is pulled away from his castle by a mysterious figure and left in a strange monochrome world. To get home he must cross room after room where nothing stays solid for long. The game is based on the popular Shift browser games, reworked here into a full adventure with a story, new stage designs and a striking look that uses only black, white and shades between. It feels familiar and fresh at the same time.

The core move is the shift, which flips the world so you sink into the floor and land on the other side of the room. Timing matters, because spikes and traps wait on both sides. This Nintendo 3DS version adds a special trick of its own, letting you view stages with real depth so planning a route gets easier. Stages grow longer and meaner as you advance, mixing keys, doors and moving parts. Every solved room gives a small and satisfying click of understanding.
