Return to Popolocrois brings back Prince Pietro, the kind hearted hero of the Popolocrois storybooks, and sends him to the troubled land of Galariland. Dark creatures called black auras are corrupting the soil, and Pietro must heal the land while searching for a way home. The game blends a storybook role playing adventure with the farming life made famous by Story of Seasons. It is warm, earnest and proudly old fashioned in the best way.

Battles play out on small grids where position and facing matter, though the difficulty stays friendly for newcomers. Between fights you tend a farm, grow crops, raise animals and build friendships with villagers through gifts and conversations. Helping people strengthens Pietro and fills the world with small rewards. Quests, treasure hunting and seasonal events fill out the days, and the soft art style makes every town feel like a page from a picture book. It is a slow and cozy journey.
