About Yumi’s Odd Odyssey for Nintendo 3DS
Yumi’s Odd Odyssey is the western name for the cult favorite Umihara Kawase games, a series built around one girl, one backpack and a very special fishing line. Yumi explores surreal stages filled with giant fish, odd creatures and platforms floating in unlikely places. There is little story to slow you down, just a strange world that invites curiosity. Every stage hides more than one exit, rewarding players who explore.
The fishing line is the whole game, because it stretches, snaps and swings Yumi across gaps like a rubber band. Mastering its physics takes patience, and early stages feel clumsy until the movement suddenly clicks. Once it does, you will bounce up walls, hook enemies and sling yourself over hazards with real style. Branching paths and hidden doors give skilled players plenty to chase, and short stages make practice feel painless.

This cult favorite needs a little explanation for buyers today. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. A physical cartridge from a retailer, where that edition was sold, is the honest way to play it now. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system, so earlier support still counts.
Odd Odyssey rewards patience with one of the most original movement systems on the system.
