Yu Gi Oh! Zexal: Gekitotsu Duel Carnival for Nintendo 3DS

About Yu Gi Oh! Zexal: Gekitotsu Duel Carnival for Nintendo 3DS

Yu Gi Oh! Zexal: Gekitotsu Duel Carnival is the original Japanese version of the Zexal tournament game for Nintendo 3DS. It throws you into the World Duel Carnival with a large cast of characters from the anime, each carrying their own deck, rivalries and short story scenes. Japanese fans received the game first, and its generous card list made it a favorite handheld entry. The presentation is bright, loud and faithful to the show.

Dueling here revolves around Xyz summoning, where matching monsters combine into powerful new threats. You can follow character stories through the carnival or settle into free duels to test new deck ideas at your own pace. With thousands of cards on offer, building and rebuilding decks becomes a long and happy hobby. Controls on the touch screen keep big fields manageable, and the pace of each match feels brisk and clean.

Import buyers should know where this Japanese edition stands today. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, and new digital purchases are no longer possible. A physical cartridge from a retailer that stocks Japanese games is the honest way to play this version now. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, which keeps earlier purchases useful on their systems.

Gekitotsu Duel Carnival is the fullest form of the Zexal handheld tournament.
