The Great Race for Nintendo Wii U
About The Great Race for Nintendo Wii U
The Great Race is a modest arcade racing game for Wii U, built around the simple pleasure of beating rivals to the finish line. There is no heavy story weighing things down, just roads, competitors and the urge to finish first. The presentation is plain and direct, which makes it easy for new players to understand within a single lap. Games like this filled a friendly corner of the Wii U library, offering quick races for players who wanted speed without simulation rules or long tutorials.
Success comes from clean lines, smart overtakes and staying calm when rivals crowd your path. Each race is short, so a mistake never ruins your evening and the next start is never far away. Playing against the computer suits a quiet session, while racing with friends adds the shouting and laughter that arcade racers live for. Expect honest, simple fun rather than deep tuning or huge track lists. For younger players especially, it offers an easy first step into racing games on the family television.

Buying this game works differently today than it once did. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, which means new digital purchases are no longer possible. Your best route now is a physical disc from a retailer, a local game store or a careful second hand purchase. Anyone who bought The Great Race digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, so early owners are not locked out of their library.
Few Wii U shelves feel complete without it.
