Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido for Nintendo 3DS

About Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido for Nintendo 3DS

Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido tells a silly and charming story in a world where sushi is banned by a greedy empire. You play as Musashi, an orphan with a huge appetite who discovers the art of Sushido and joins the fight to bring sushi back to everyone. The tale is told with bright art, funny voices and a cast of oddballs. Under the jokes sits a warm message about sharing good food, which gives the whole adventure a sweet heart.

Battles play out as fast puzzle duels. Plates of sushi roll past on lanes, and you link matching plates with the stylus or buttons to stack them high. Eating a stack builds your attack, and throwing the empty plates at your rival deals damage. Sushi sprites join your team and add skills that change how each fight flows. Timing your biggest stacks while blocking enemy plates takes quick eyes and quicker hands. Story battles, rival matches and extra challenges give the system plenty of room to grow.

Getting your hands on this one is still fairly easy. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge from a retailer, and this game did receive a proper cartridge release. If you bought it digitally before the closure, you can still access your purchased games on your own 3DS as before.

It is one of the strangest and happiest puzzle games on the system.
