Shakedown: Hawaii for Nintendo 3DS
About Shakedown: Hawaii for Nintendo 3DS
Shakedown Hawaii is a comic open world action game about an aging businessman whose company is falling behind modern times. His taxi firms, video shops and other old fashioned businesses are losing money, so he takes matters into his own hands with a tour of creative and often ridiculous schemes. The story pokes fun at big business, shopping trends and modern life, and it keeps the jokes coming while you roam a sunny island city full of things to do.
You play from a top down view, driving cars, running missions and taking over local businesses to grow your income. Almost every building on the island can be bought, and stronger earnings open new story chapters and toys to play with. The game is packed with weapons, vehicles and optional chaos for players who just want to wander. Its colorful retro pixel art is a nod to classic games, while the map and mission design feel modern and generous.

A quick note for buyers today: the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so this game can no longer be bought new in digital form there. Look instead for a physical cartridge, which select shops and online sellers still carry. Owners who picked up the digital version before the closure can still access their purchased games whenever they like. The cartridge is also a fun piece for fans of retro styled indie games.
Few games mix business jokes and island chaos this well.
