Sekaiju no Meikyuu IV Denshou no Kyoshin is the Japanese original of Etrian Odyssey IV Legends of the Titan, a dungeon role playing game about explorers chasing the great tree Yggdrasil. From the town of Tharsis, guilds sail the skies in airships, hunting smaller mazes and gathering the courage to enter the great labyrinth. The series is famous for one special ritual: you draw your own maps on the touch screen as you explore, marking walls, treasures and danger by hand.

Your party is built from classes like landsknecht, medic and runemaster, and smart team building matters because the labyrinth is merciless. Turn based battles demand planning, especially against the huge FOE monsters that stalk the floors and can crush an unprepared guild. The airship sections open the world beyond a single dungeon, and the music and art give the journey real grandeur. Mapping a floor completely, square by square, brings a satisfaction no automatic map can match.

Guilds now form through the physical market. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible.
