Retro City Rampage: DX for Nintendo 3DS

About Retro City Rampage: DX for Nintendo 3DS

Retro City Rampage DX drops you into Theftropolis, a pixel city where crime, comedy and video game nostalgia collide. You play a small time crook pulled into a wild plot involving a stolen time machine and a mountain of parodies. Almost every mission pokes fun at a classic game, movie or piece of pop culture. The DX edition refined the original release with tweaks and extras, and the whole package feels like a love letter to the eight bit and sixteen bit eras.

The city is fully open, so you can follow the story missions or simply wander, steal cars and stir up trouble. On foot you run, jump and blast through enemies, while driving sections and mini games break up the rhythm. Dozens of weapons, vehicles and character customizations keep the sandbox fresh. Challenge stages and arcade modes add score chasing for players who enjoy testing their skills. It is dense with secrets, and nearly every corner hides a joke or a reference worth finding.

This retro sandbox now lives on cartridge for collectors. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. A physical copy from a retailer or a careful second hand purchase is the way in today. Anyone who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, meaning early fans can keep rampaging through Theftropolis on their own hardware.

It packs a whole city of jokes into your pocket.
