Pure Chess for Nintendo 3DS

About Pure Chess for Nintendo 3DS

Pure Chess does exactly what its name promises, presenting the ancient game in a clean and beautiful way with no fuss around the edges. Boards and pieces come in lovely materials and settings, from polished wood in a quiet museum to grand Staunton pieces in a sunlit room. You can face the computer across many skill levels, take on tutorials that teach real tactics, or settle into famous chess problems at your own pace.

The teaching side is a real strength, with lessons that guide new players from how pieces move to pins, forks and basic strategy, all in plain language. Stronger players can push the top difficulty levels for a genuine fight, and local play lets two people share a proper game on one system. The presentation stays calm and classy throughout, with gentle music and smooth piece movement. It is chess as a quiet pleasure rather than a noisy contest.

The situation for new players is simple to explain. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, which means new digital purchases are no longer possible, and this game never received a physical cartridge release. Anyone who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games today, so existing owners lose nothing and can keep enjoying it as before.

A classy and peaceful way to keep chess in your pocket.
