Pokemon Crystal Version for Nintendo 3DS

About Pokemon Crystal Version for Nintendo 3DS

Pokemon Crystal Version is the enhanced edition of the second generation, and this release brought it to Nintendo 3DS through Virtual Console. Your journey covers the Johto region and, in one of the series' greatest surprises, continues into Kanto afterward, making the adventure feel twice as large. Crystal polished its sister games in many ways, adding animated Pokemon sprites, a female Trainer option for the first time and a story thread following the legendary Suicune and the scholar Eusine who hunts it across the region.

The improvements go deeper than looks. The Battle Tower makes its first appearance, offering a stern test for a trained team, and story scenes around the Burned Tower and the legendary beasts carry more weight than before. Day and night cycles, breeding and held items all return from Gold and Silver, giving the world its daily rhythm. The Virtual Console version even restored access to the famous Celebi event, which many players outside Japan had never been able to play. It is the richest way to experience the generation that doubled Pokemon's world.

The situation today is simple to explain. This Virtual Console release left the store when the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Owners who bought it in time can still access their purchased games on their systems. Newcomers can look for the original cartridge at retro retailers and enjoy the adventure the way players first did.

Johto at its very best, polished and complete.
