Pilotwings Resort for Nintendo 3DS

About Pilotwings Resort for Nintendo 3DS

Pilotwings Resort returns Nintendo's beloved flight school series on the sunny shores of Wuhu Island, the same island from Wii Sports Resort. As a student pilot, you take lessons and missions in a fleet of light aircraft, from a simple plane to a hang glider, a jet pack and more exotic machines unlocked later. The island below is a joy to circle, full of landmarks, beaches and hidden spots that look lovely from the air, and the whole game carries the calm, holiday mood that its setting promises.

Missions test every side of flying. You will pass through rings, land gently on targets, take photos of landmarks, pop balloons and race the clock, earning stars and stamps for clean performances. The controls are light and friendly, using the circle pad to steer while the 3D view gives a real sense of height and speed. A free flight mode lets you ignore missions entirely and simply explore the island, hunting for collectibles and enjoying the scenery. As a launch title, it also doubled as a gentle showcase for what glasses free 3D could add to a game.

These days, Pilotwings Resort is a cartridge hunt. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for anyone. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge from a retailer or a trusted used game shop. If you bought the game digitally before the closure, you can still access your purchased games on your system whenever you like.

Clear skies and gentle winds make this flight worth taking.
