An ambassador from Beanbean Kingdom arrives with a gift, but it is a trap. The witch Cackletta steals Princess Peach voice, and every word she speaks now explodes. Mario and Luigi follow the thieves to Beanbean Kingdom, where they explore joke filled towns, chuckling valleys and ancient ruins. This Nintendo 3DS remake of Superstar Saga adds Bowser Minions, a second story following Captain Goomba and a loyal squad searching for their missing boss.

Battles are built on timing, with solo dodges, counters and Bros attacks that turn the brothers into a bouncing double act. New field abilities arrive steadily, from spins that cross gaps to hammers that clear the way. Minion Quest plays as light real time strategy, where unit types and formation choices decide fast auto battles. Together the two modes make this the fullest version of a Game Boy Advance classic, with updated visuals and a remixed soundtrack throughout.
