Kirby Triple Deluxe opens with a giant beanstalk called the Dreamstalk lifting Kirbys home into the sky and King Dedede being snatched away by a mysterious new villain named Taranza. Kirby gives chase up the stalk, traveling through floating islands of flowers, toys, circuses and sweets to rescue his old rival. The adventure shows off the 3DS hardware beautifully, with stages that reach into the background and foreground. It is classic Kirby in structure and spirit, generous with charm, secrets and new copy abilities to discover along the climb upward.

The headline new ability is Hypernova, which gives Kirby an enormous inhale that can move trees, gulp whole lines of enemies and solve scenery sized puzzles. Other new abilities like archer, beetle and bell add fresh tricks to the familiar set. Levels are layered with collectible sun stones and keychains hidden behind clever uses of both screen depth and Kirbys powers. Bosses make playful use of the 3D space, attacking from the background as often as the front. Kirby Fighters and a rhythm game starring Dedede add generous extras beyond the main quest.
