Layton Kyouju to Kiseki no Kamen for Nintendo 3DS

About Layton Kyouju to Kiseki no Kamen for Nintendo 3DS

Layton Kyouju to Kiseki no Kamen is the Japanese title of Professor Layton and the Miracle Mask. The story takes Layton, Luke and Emmy to Monte dOr, a glittering carnival city built in the desert. A figure called the Masked Gentleman is turning people to stone and horses into chaos during the nightly parade, claiming the power of an ancient mask. Layton must also face memories of his school days, when a treasure hunt with an old friend ended in a way that still haunts him.

Puzzles fill every street of the city, from logic and math teasers to visual riddles that use the 3D screen in playful ways. Some puzzles place you in first person scenes, like guiding Layton through ruins or joining a circus act. The daily puzzle service added fresh challenges over time, building a huge total library. Story scenes switch between the present case and Layton and his teenage years, slowly joining the two timelines. Emmy brings energy to the investigation, and the city itself is one of the most colorful settings in the series.

In practice this means choosing a physical cartridge from a retailer you trust, ideally one you can inspect before buying. Finding this game now works differently than it once did. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Your old digital copy is not lost if you bought it in time, as owners can still access their purchased games today.

It is a fine reminder of how varied the Nintendo 3DS library became.
