Cursed Castilla EX for Nintendo 3DS

About Cursed Castilla EX for Nintendo 3DS

Cursed Castilla EX is a hard edged action platformer inspired by the arcade classics of the past, set in a version of medieval Castile overrun by demons and monsters from Spanish folklore. You are Don Ramiro, a knight ordered by his king to drive the evil from the land after dark magic tears through the kingdom. Ghosts, harpies and grotesque bosses wait in castles, forests and drowned villages, all drawn in rich pixel art that honors the games that inspired it while telling a story rooted in real local legends.

The action is deliberate and demanding. Don Ramiro throws weapons in straight lines, climbs, crouches and fights with the measured pace of the arcade greats, and every hit you take matters. Different throw weapons change your reach and power, and secrets hide in stages for knights brave enough to explore while demons claw at them. Boss battles are grand and punishing, built on patterns you must learn with patience. The EX edition expands the adventure with extra content, making this the fullest version of a modern retro classic.

Modern retro classics sit proudly in any physical collection. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Physical copies of this edition exist and are worth asking retailers about. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their 3DS, where Don Ramiro still rides against the dark whenever called.

Old school steel against very old evil.
