Cubic Ninja is a puzzle platformer with a hero who cannot walk or jump in the usual way, because he is a cube and you control him by tilting the Nintendo 3DS itself. CC the ninja must roll and slide through trap filled levels to rescue his princess, and every stage is a little physics playground of spikes, springs and moving platforms. The game was built around the gyroscope of the system, making your own hands the controller in a way that still feels playful and different from anything else on the shelf.

Tilting sounds simple until the levels start demanding precision. You feather the angle to creep past spikes, commit to a steep tilt to build speed for a ramp and catch safe ground at the last moment. Scrolls hidden in each stage reward bold routes, and unlockable powers let CC stick, bounce and change the rules in later worlds. A level editor extends the fun, letting you build your own deathtraps and share them. The challenge grows honestly, and finishing a nasty stage with a smooth run feels wonderful.
