Castlevania: Rondo of Blood for Nintendo 3DS

About Castlevania: Rondo of Blood for Nintendo 3DS

Castlevania Rondo of Blood is one of the most celebrated entries in the whole series, released for Nintendo 3DS owners through the Virtual Console line in its TurboGrafx form. Richter Belmont storms Dracula castle to rescue the kidnapped Annette, crossing stages that branch into hidden routes and secret rooms. The sprite art is rich, the music is legendary and the action is tight and fair. For years western fans could only hear about this game, which built its myth even higher among series lovers.

Richter famous Item Crash turns each sub weapon into a huge screen filling attack, from a storm of crosses to a pillar of holy water. Rescuing Maria Renard unlocks her as a playable hero, and her doves and animal friends make a second run feel like a different game. Stages hide prisoners, alternate bosses and entirely different paths to the castle keep. The challenge is honest, with patterns that can be learned and beaten cleanly. Every victory here feels like joining a proud tradition of vampire hunters.

This classic reached the Nintendo 3DS as a digital Virtual Console title. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. No cartridge version exists for the system, so the honest routes are an earlier purchase or the game wider modern collections from a retailer. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system. The original TurboGrafx disc is rare and costly today.

It is a legendary hunt that fully earns its fame.
