Lock on Victory is the second Cardfight Vanguard game for the Nintendo 3DS, moving the story into the school based arc of the anime. Fighters now duel as students, joining card clubs and facing the strange threat of the invading Link Joker clan. The cast grows, the rivalries sharpen and the card pool expands with the clans and mechanics of that era. It builds directly on the first game, giving Japanese fans a longer and richer card campaign to enjoy at home or on the train.

Duels again follow the true rules, with riding, calling, guarding and trigger checks deciding tight games. New mechanics from the era, including the menacing Lock skill that freezes your units, force fresh thinking in deck building and play. Story fights introduce each threat before tournaments test your full skill. Winning cards and shopping for packs keeps your favorite clan growing stronger. The larger card pool means more personal decks, more surprises and many reasons to keep dueling after the story ends.

Series fans after this sequel today should think import first. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge from a retailer selling Japanese games. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system. As with the rest of the series, Japanese hardware and Japanese reading skills are both needed.

It is a bigger school duel chapter for devoted fighters.
