The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Wii U
About The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time for Nintendo Wii U
The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time follows young Link, a boy from the forest chosen to stop the thief Ganondorf from seizing the sacred Triforce. With the magical Ocarina of Time, Link opens the door between childhood and adulthood, waking seven years later in a Hyrule ruled by darkness. Princess Zelda, loyal sages and unforgettable songs guide his quest. On Wii U this adventure arrived through the Virtual Console service, letting a new generation explore the game that carried the series, and gaming, into three dimensions.
The adventure mixes lively towns, wide fields and inventive dungeons built around clever items. One dungeon might ask you to play with time, another to master water levels or shadows. Targeting enemies in three dimensions felt revolutionary and still feels clear and satisfying. Side quests, heart pieces and secrets fill Hyrule between the main trials. The music is woven into the gameplay itself, with ocarina songs that change weather, time and place. Few games carry this much history, and fewer still remain this enjoyable to play decades later.

Times have changed for Wii U owners. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible for The Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time or any other title. Look instead for a physical disc from a retailer or a trusted second hand shop, and inspect it before playing. Gamers who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, keeping their original library alive and well.
Give it an evening and it may win you over.
