The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX opens with Link washed ashore on Koholint Island after a storm destroys his ship. A kind girl named Marin nurses him back to health, but the island holds a secret. The Wind Fish sleeps in a giant egg on the mountain, and only its waking can send Link home. This color edition of the Game Boy classic adds a special color dungeon and photo moments scattered across the island.

Koholint is small but dense, packed with caves, quirky villagers and dungeons that mix puzzles with playful surprises. Link finds unusual tools here, like a feather for jumping and a bracelet for lifting heavy pots, and side scrolling passages hide inside many rooms. Characters from other Nintendo games pop up in funny cameo roles. The story grows quietly thoughtful as you learn what waking the Wind Fish will mean for the island and everyone living on it. Few adventures of its era have aged this gracefully or this warmly.
