Swapdoodle for Nintendo 3DS

About Swapdoodle for Nintendo 3DS

Swapdoodle is a cheerful drawing and messaging app from Nintendo that turns your 3DS into a sketch pad for friends. You draw little notes, add stickers and stamps, and send your creations to people on your friend list. Nikki, the friendly guide from earlier Nintendo drawing apps, returns to help you learn the ropes. The whole thing feels playful rather than serious, built for jokes, greetings and tiny works of art shared between friends.

Drawing lessons teach you to sketch Nintendo characters step by step, and your skills improve as you follow along. You can add sound effects, use different pen styles and decorate notes with stamps earned through lessons and extras. Notes arrive with a fun reveal, and you can reply with doodles of your own. Extra packs add more lessons and stamps for players who get hooked. It is less a game and more a creative toy box, and that is exactly its charm.

Swapdoodle was a digital only release, and times have changed since its launch. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible, including extra lesson packs. Anyone who added it to their system before the closure can still access their purchased games and content. If you are buying a used 3DS, check whether Swapdoodle is already installed, since that is now the simplest way to enjoy it.

A tiny sketch pad that still brings out the artist in anyone.
