Sonic Lost World for Nintendo 3DS

About Sonic Lost World for Nintendo 3DS

Sonic Lost World takes the blue hedgehog to the Lost Hex, a floating world of varied lands hanging above his planet. Doctor Eggman has harnessed the power of the Deadly Six, a group of colorful and mischievous beings, but when Sonic frees them from control they turn on everyone. Sonic must race across deserts, skies, forests and frozen lands to stop them, even teaming uneasily with Eggman along the way. The Nintendo 3DS version is its own game, with stages built for the handheld rather than copied from the home version.

Movement in Lost World experiments with control, letting Sonic walk, run and sprint in stages at different paces, with parkour moves that carry him up walls and across rails. Levels mix side view and full 3D spaces, with wisps returning to grant powers like drilling and flying. The handheld edition uses the touch screen and motion in small ways, and its stages favor careful exploring alongside speed. Boss battles against each member of the Deadly Six cap the colorful zones with varied fights.

For anyone adding this to a collection today, the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases of Lost World are no longer available. A physical cartridge is the usual answer, stocked by game shops and sellers at reasonable prices. Players who bought the digital version before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system. Remember that the Nintendo 3DS edition has different stages from the home console release.

Lost World dares to try new moves in a colorful sky world.
