River City Rival Showdown reimagines the classic River City Ransom story with modern touches. Kunio wakes up to find his friend Riki missing and a challenge hanging over the whole town. With only three in game days to act, he must fight rival gangs, gather information and uncover who is pulling the strings. The remake keeps the beloved street brawling while adding a ticking clock, new scenes and more ways for the story to unfold.

Fighting remains gloriously scrappy. You punch, kick, throw and swing whatever the street offers, from chains to trash cans, while earning money to buy food and books that teach new moves. Stats grow as you eat and train, turning Kunio into a neighbourhood legend. The day and night cycle changes who you meet and what you can do, and choices lead toward different endings. A separate fighting mode lets two players settle things directly when the story takes a break.
