Pokemon Yellow Version for Nintendo 3DS

About Pokemon Yellow Version for Nintendo 3DS

Pokemon Yellow Version is the special edition of the original Kanto adventure, shaped by the charm of the animated series. Instead of the usual choice of starters, you begin with a Pikachu that refuses to stay in its ball and follows you around the world, reacting with cute expressions when you turn to talk to it. Team Rocket troublemakers Jessie and James even pop up, and the Gym Leaders carry teams that fans of the show will happily recognise.

The core journey is the classic one, catching Pokemon across routes and caves, earning eight badges in towns like Pewter, Cerulean and Vermilion, and facing the Elite Four at the Indigo Plateau. Rivals, trades and the hunt for all 151 Pokemon give the game its timeless pull. The Nintendo 3DS release kept the old look and sounds while adding wireless play for trading and battling, which suits the game perfectly. Simple graphics hide a journey that still hooks new players.

The situation for new players is simple to explain. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, which means new digital purchases are no longer possible, and this game never received a physical cartridge release. Anyone who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games today, so existing owners lose nothing and can keep enjoying it as before.

Yellow is pure nostalgia that still plays beautifully today.
