One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum for Nintendo 3DS

About One Piece: Great Pirate Colosseum for Nintendo 3DS

One Piece Great Pirate Colosseum is the arena fighting entry in the series on Nintendo 3DS, known in Japan under the Dai Kaizoku Colosseum name. It gathers Luffy and dozens of allies and enemies into tag team battles where team building matters as much as quick fingers. The presentation is pure One Piece, loud, colorful and proud of its huge cast. For fans, simply seeing dream pairings share a team is half the joy of the game.

You lead a main fighter and call on partners to extend combos, cover openings and unleash joint attacks. Characters fight with the powers that made them famous, and learning the reach and rhythm of a favorite takes practice against tougher rivals. Story scenes, free battles and challenge modes give solo players plenty to chew on, while the roster invites endless experiments. Which villain makes the perfect partner for which hero is a question the game happily lets you answer yourself, match after match.

Collectors still have a clear path to this one. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Seek out a physical cartridge from a retailer, checking the label and case where you can. Owners who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, so early buyers lose nothing they already paid for.

It is a fine reminder of the handheld golden years.
