Mario Kart 8 for Nintendo Wii U

About Mario Kart 8 for Nintendo Wii U

Mario Kart 8 is the crown jewel of Wii U racing, sending Mario and friends onto tracks that climb walls and race across ceilings. Anti gravity sections twist famous locations into loops and spirals, while underwater and gliding parts return from earlier games. The cast is huge, the karts can be built from dozens of parts, and every cup feels like a tour of Nintendo history. It looks stunning, sounds joyful and plays like a dream at any speed.

Racing rewards skill and mischief in equal measure. Drifting builds boosts, coins raise your top speed, and items from green shells to the new Super Horn turn races upside down in seconds. Twelve player online races and local four player splits keep the competition endless, while time trials and ghost data feed players who chase perfection. The GamePad can show the map or act as a horn, and off television play keeps races going anywhere. Simply one of the finest racing games ever made.

Playing this one today means thinking about discs. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo Wii U closed in March 2023, which ended new digital purchases for the system. The honest option now is a physical disc from a retailer, and plenty of shops still stock Wii U games at fair prices. Anyone who bought it digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games as normal.

Start your engines, because this is kart racing at its very best.
