Mario & Luigi RPG 3 DX for Nintendo 3DS

About Mario & Luigi RPG 3 DX for Nintendo 3DS

Mario and Luigi RPG 3 DX is the Japanese release of the enhanced Bowser adventure first seen on Nintendo DS. A strange sickness called the Blorbs is spreading through the Mushroom Kingdom, and during the confusion Bowser breathes in the brothers and half the kingdom with them. Mario and Luigi must explore inside Bowser and help him from within, while Bowser himself travels the kingdom fighting Fawful and trying to reclaim his castle.

Gameplay switches between two styles that constantly affect each other. Inside Bowser, the brothers platform and battle in two dimensional areas, and their actions can power up or change Bowser in the outside world. Bowser explores in the top down style, punching, breathing fire and growing giant for huge screen filling boss fights. The DX edition adds the Bowser Jr Journey side story, updated visuals and quality improvements that make this classic feel fresh on Nintendo 3DS hardware.

This Japanese DX edition is a boxed release worth seeking out. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible now. The honest way to play is a physical cartridge from a retailer who carries Japanese Nintendo games, with region details checked first. Owners who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games, so earlier buyers lose nothing and can return to Bowser any time.

A beloved adventure made even better in DX form.
