About Mario and Donkey Kong: Minis on the Move for Nintendo 3DS

The Mini toy carnival is open, and the little wind up Mario toys are marching again. In Minis on the Move, the toys walk on their own and your job is to build the road under them. Tiles appear piece by piece, and you place them on the board to guide each Mini to the goal star without letting it fall, wander into danger or run out of time. Pauline and Donkey Kong host the fairground fun.

The view sits above the board in full 3D, which makes planning routes feel fresh compared with the older side view games. Later stages add pipes, conveyor belts, magnets, locked tiles and enemies that punish sloppy building. Extra modes change the rules, from many Minis at once to a giant sliding puzzle board, and a level builder lets you make and share your own stages. It is a calm looking puzzler that quietly turns very demanding.

This one began life as a digital only release, which makes buying advice important. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. There is no standard physical cartridge for this title, so the honest way to play now is on a system where it was already bought, or through a complete second hand system that lawfully includes it. People who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games as normal.
