LEGO The Lord Of The Rings for Nintendo 3DS

About LEGO The Lord Of The Rings for Nintendo 3DS

LEGO The Lord Of The Rings retells the full film trilogy in one epic adventure. Frodo Baggins inherits the One Ring and must carry it to Mount Doom while the Fellowship protects him from Sauron and his servants. The game uses real dialogue from the films, a first for the Lego series, which gives the story real weight between the jokes. Middle earth is one large open world on the main versions, and the handheld adventure still visits the Shire, Rivendell, Moria, Rohan and Gondor in turn.

Each member of the Fellowship has gifts and gear for puzzles, like Legolas and his bow, Gimli and his strength and Sam and his gardening and cooking. You can craft items at blacksmiths using mithril bricks found across the land. Battles grow larger as the story reaches Helm's Deep and the fields of Gondor. Collectibles, red bricks and unlockable characters reward those who revisit areas with new skills. The mix of film drama and Lego silliness makes the long journey feel warm rather than heavy.

Anyone hunting for a copy should start with this: the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Game shops, retailers and second hand stores with physical cartridges are the honest places to look for a copy now. Happily, players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games without any trick.

Plenty of players still speak warmly about it today.
