LEGO Ninjago Shadow of Ronin for Nintendo 3DS

About LEGO Ninjago Shadow of Ronin for Nintendo 3DS

LEGO Ninjago Shadow of Ronin introduces a new villain to the Ninjago world. Ronin, a mysterious warrior with a powerful weapon, steals the memories of Kai, Jay, Cole, Zane and Lloyd using the Obsidian Glaive. Without their memories, the ninja cannot use their full powers, and they must journey across Ninjago to recover what was taken. The story visits famous places from the television series and introduces new locations along the way. It feels like a lost season of the show told in game form.

Each ninja controls an element, and their Spinjitzu powers open paths and defeat enemies in style. You switch between ninja to solve puzzles, ride vehicles and even control mighty mechs and dragons in bigger action scenes. Obsidian weapons hidden in levels restore memories and teach new moves as the story unfolds. Collectibles and challenges reward players who search each stage fully. The combat is simple and flashy, made for younger fans, while the story gives the ninja real stakes as they fight to remember who they are.

If you plan to play this one today, remember that the Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Seek out a physical cartridge through a game retailer or a careful second hand purchase, and check its condition first. Earlier digital buyers keep their access, so anyone who bought it before the closure can still access their purchased games.

Fans of the system still count it among their quiet favorites.
