Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono. 3D for Nintendo 3DS
About Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono. 3D for Nintendo 3DS
Ken to Mahou to Gakuen Mono. 3D, the Class of Heroes style academy RPG from Acquire, puts you in charge of students at a school for adventurers. Instead of following one fixed hero, you create your own party from many races and classes, enroll them in classes and send them into dangerous dungeons as part of their education. The charm is in the school fantasy wrapped around an old school dungeon crawler, where homework means mapping labyrinths and exams are fought with swords and spells against things with far too many teeth.
Exploration happens in first person through grid based dungeons full of traps, hidden doors and wandering monsters, while battles are turn based and demand sensible party building. Mixing races and classes creates real variety, since a strong front line and a clever back line win fights that brute force loses. Between crawls you manage gear, classes and items back at the academy, preparing for deeper floors. The difficulty is honest and sometimes stern, in the tradition of classic crawlers, so careful preparation matters. For players who love building a party from scratch, few handheld RPGs offer this much freedom.

Buying it today takes a different route than it once did. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, and new digital purchases are no longer possible at all. Look instead for a physical cartridge at a retailer or a reputable second hand shop. Anyone who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games as before.
School has never been this dangerous or this fun.
