Code Name STEAM for Nintendo 3DS

About Code Name STEAM for Nintendo 3DS

Code Name STEAM imagines a world where steam technology leapt ahead and President Abraham Lincoln leads a secret agency of heroes against an alien invasion. Built by the team behind famous strategy series, the game mixes American comic book art with Victorian style machinery and a cast borrowed from classic literature. Characters like the Cowardly Lion and Tom Sawyer fight beside Lincoln agents in a story that is completely serious about being gloriously strange. Every mission drops your squad into a city under attack and asks you to outthink enemies from another world.

Combat is turn based strategy viewed over the shoulder of your soldiers, which makes positioning feel personal and tense. Steam is both your fuel and your limit, since moving and shooting draw from the same supply each turn. There are no overhead maps, so you peek around corners, guard your flanks and set ambushes for aliens you cannot always see. Between missions you collect gears and boilers that change how your team performs. The presentation, from comic panels to bold voice acting, gives every battle the flavor of a pulp adventure serial.

This is one of the most distinctive Nintendo cartridges on the system. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. Physical copies remain widely available from retailers, often at friendly prices, which makes collecting it easy. Players who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games and command the STEAM squad on their own system.
