Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate for Nintendo 3DS

About Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate for Nintendo 3DS

Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate tells a story set after the console adventure, with Batman called to Blackgate Prison after a mysterious explosion frees its most dangerous inmates. Joker, Penguin and Black Mask carve the prison into their own territories, and Batman must cross all of it to restore order. The mood is dark, the art has a comic book edge and the hero is still earning his legend.

The game plays as a side view action adventure through the prison, mixing hand to hand combat, stealth takedowns and gadget based exploration. New tools open old areas, so the prison slowly unfolds like a map full of secrets. Boss fights test both your fists and your wits. It is a compact Arkham experience that suits the handheld well, with atmosphere to spare in every shadowy corridor. The presentation makes smart use of the small screen, with clear menus and scenes that stay easy to read in handheld play.

Buying Batman Arkham Origins Blackgate today takes a little patience. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, so new digital purchases are no longer possible. The honest way to play now is a physical cartridge bought from a retailer or a trusted game shop. People who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games on their system, so long time owners have not lost their copies.

A small treasure from a very special era of gaming.
