Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition for Nintendo 3DS

About Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition for Nintendo 3DS

Another World tells the story of Lester, a young scientist whose experiment goes wrong and throws him into a harsh alien land. There are almost no words in the whole game. The story is told through danger, friendship and short striking scenes, including a bond with a tall alien ally who helps Lester survive a world that wants him gone.

Play mixes careful platforming, quick shooting and small puzzles that must be solved under pressure. One wrong step usually means a sudden end, so patience and sharp eyes matter more than speed. This anniversary edition keeps the famous rotoscoped look of the original while adding cleaner presentation options, letting a true classic shine on the handheld screen. Short sessions suit the hardware well, so it is easy to enjoy a little progress on a bus ride or during a quiet break. The sound design deserves a mention too, with music and effects that give each scene its own mood without ever becoming annoying.

If you want Another World: 20th Anniversary Edition now, plan around one simple fact. The Nintendo eShop for Nintendo 3DS closed in March 2023, and new digital purchases are no longer possible there. A physical cartridge from a retailer is the honest way to play today, and used copies still turn up in game shops. Anyone who bought the game digitally before the closure can still access their purchased games as usual.

Small, sincere and well worth a place on the shelf.
